Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Harvard Center for Brain Science Neuroimaging Core Facility seeks an experienced research scientist committed to advancing the Center's mission of teaching, research and service in an academic, non-medical environment. This position offers opportunity to interact with diverse faculty and student users and subject populations. The position reports to the Neuroimaging Assistant Director.
The Neuroimaging Staff Scientist will work with the Neuroimaging Core Staff in providing assistance and instruction to facility users and in the daily operation of the MRI resources. The Neuroimaging Staff Scientist's primary role will be to consult, provide support and train investigators either new to MRI research or who need assistance in beginning new studies. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated researcher to collaborate in a wide range of MRI studies with investigators from several departments and schools within the University, with the additional possibility of independent research.
Training and Teaching:
Provide assistance to investigators in organizing and executing research studies
Instruct investigators and students on the safe and appropriate use of the MRI and related laboratory equipment
Advise and assist with experimental design, consenting and preparing subjects, operation of the scanner and ancillary experimental equipment and software, and data collection best practices
Advise and assist with archiving data, utilizing computing resources, and analyzing data using various image analysis software packages and scripts
Provide general supplementary technical support and assistance to users
Coordinate and conduct training workshops, information sessions, and class demonstrations for researchers and students
Support of Operations:
Maintain ancillary experimental equipment (e.g., physiological monitoring, TMS, eye-tracking, behavioral response boxes, projection equipment and computing tools for stimulus presentation)
Assist Core Staff with quality control scans, data back-ups, and general facility operations
Assist MR Physicist with planning, data collection and analysis in experiments aimed at improving image quality and advancing imaging methodology

Master's degree or higher in Cognitive Neuroscience or related field.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
PhD in related field is strongly preferred
Expertise in functional magnetic resonance imaging and data analysis
Requires computer proficiency, experience with Linux shell scripting, Python, Matlab, R, and fMRI analysis packages (e.g., FreeSurfer, SPM, FSL, AFNI, etc)
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
