Associates degree in related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. Three years relevant specialist experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Plans, executes, and evaluates campus-wide programs to educate the campus community with regard to multicultural/diversity issues in accordance with the University's mission and philosophy.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Serves as the primary staff person responsible for coordinating the University's efforts for cultural and diversity celebrations including but not limited to Hispanic Heritage Month, LGBTQ+ History Month, Native American Indian Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women's History Month, Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, etc.
Supervises, trains, and advises the Diversity Council, a student programming board that coordinates and executes up to twenty (20) cultural and diverse events a semester, including the annual Diversity Leadership Conference.
Assesses the needs and coordinates the implementation of services and programs that address the needs of traditionally underrepresented student populations.
Provides support to student organizations that work directly and indirectly with the office.
Advises and trains student leaders, financially supporting student organizations when appropriate, and facilitating personal, professional, and leadership development opportunities for students.
Works closely with the University-wide Diversity Committee, the Diversity Leadership Conference Committee, and other Diversity committees as assigned.
Participates as a contributing member of the Department of Student Activities staff team.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
