Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Custodian for the Division of Institutional Planning and Operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Performs a wide variety of routine custodial duties required to maintain buildings and grounds in a clean and habitable condition.
Also performs basic maintenance and repair duties on University facilities and equipment.
Minimum Education and Experience:
No experience required. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Cleans, dusts, strips, scrubs, waxes, and buffs floors, rooms, toilets, offices, and all interiors of buildings; replenishes linen inventory; removes waste materials; periodically shampoos carpeting and washes windows; may make beds, as assigned. Conducts periodic safety and room inspections. Performs basic repairs to custodial equipment, using hand tools.
Maintains a perimeter outside of buildings, i.e. loose debris, leaves, etc. Performs snow removal operations as assigned; inspects buildings for custodial and general physical security; checks interior lighting to insure proper maintenance and repair; issues and delivers supplies, equipment and furniture to locations as required.
Performs duties related to special events.
Detects faulty operation of custodial equipment and building systems and reports questionable conditions to supervisor. Performs related duties as required.
Position is located on the Camden campus. Hiring offers for this position are contingent on the successful completion of a background check.
2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 2:30 p.m.- 11:00 p.m.
