ACCESSSERVICES: 1. Coordinates the course reserves collections, including processing and withdrawing reserve materials, returning reserve materials to appropriate locations, and monitoring copyright compliance for materials placed on reserve. 2. Collect reserve statistics 3. Implement services that enable faculty to link library resources to their course BlackBoard pages in order to integrate these resources with other materials needed for the course. 4. Provide basic reference and access services at the Information Services Desk for an average of 12 hours per week. 5. Assist with the Access Services student assistant supervision, train and supervise the student assistants who participate in Interlibrary Loan procedures. 6. Co-manage the distribution and tracking of the University of Chicago cards. 7. Participate in library maintenance such as shelf reading, shifting, and looking for lost materials when needed. Determine if items need repair or replacement and coordinate with Technical Services. 8. Assist with the duties of the Access Services Assistant for Public Services when that staff member is not available. 9. Cooperates as a team member with the library staff in preforming any duties essential to efficient library services. 10. Fulfill other duties as assigned.
INTERLIBRARYLOAN/TIPASA: 1. Perform I-Share resource sharing and interlibrary loan procedures. Verify bibliographic information, determine location of request materials, circulate requested items between Oesterle Library and borrowing libraries, fill Tipasa requests from borrowing libraries, prepare items to ship through UPS/USPS/RAILS Service. 2. Maintain Interlibrary Loan records. 3. Draft documentation for I-Share and Tipasa workflows for use among the Access Services staff and student assistants. 4. Monitor changes and updates to Tipasa services; recommend local changes that might make use of expanding services; monitor and attend appropriate OCLC seminars. 5. Answer inquires about Interlibrary Loan services. 6. Collect Interlibrary Loan statistics. 7. Supervise Interlibrary Loan overdue and billing operations. Produces and sends out warning and billing letters in physical and electronic format. Maintain overdue and billing files. Contact I-Share and Tipasa libraries regarding overdue/lost materials. Issue lost book invoices to I-Share patrons. Answer questions about overdue notices and bills. 8. Fufill other duties as assigned.
SOCIALMEDIA: 1. Manage Oesterle Library's multiple social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, following the policies and procedures in place by North Central College. 2. Create unique posts for the social media accounts on a weekly basis to encourage engagement. 3. Assist the Coordinator of Digital and Outreach Services Librarian in creating social media campaigns. 4. Stay up to date on current social media practices that the library could implement. 5. Collaborate with the other staff/faculty of the library to help create an engaging community presence on social media.
An associate's degree or equivalent work experience is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Some knowledge of interlibrary loan and reference services preferred.
This is a part-time position providing public services for Oesterle Library.
Work Schedule: Employed for a twelve month basis with a standard work week of 35 hours from August 15-May 15 when classes are in session, and 20 hours during summer and other weeks when classes are not in session. Total hours not to exceed 1,560 hours annually (July 1-June 30) or as determined by immediate supervisor.
