Faculty Position: The Department of Radiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago is seeking a full-time, continuing appointment, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The position will be in an active translational research environment blending clinical studies with developments of advanced MR imaging research with a focus on innovations in preclinical and/or clinical translational research. Research activities will cover the development and application of advanced radiologic imaging techniques aimed as assessing organ structure and function, including innovative data analysis concepts such as AI and deep learning. The search is open to a broad range of areas of research, including (1) body oncology imaging (diffusion and perfusion weighted imaging, highly accelerated MRI using sparse sampling) for diagnoses and outcomes prediction in patients with diseases of the liver, pancreas, prostate, intestinal tract, kidney, and breast (2) Hybrid molecular imaging use of in-vivo MRI and PET-MRI to develop/validate novel clinical diagnostics and therapies, (3) Preclinical MRI technique development and applications in small and large animal models of disease, (4) Radiation therapy using a hybrid low-field MR-Linac system for improved cancer therapies, (5) neurovascular disease and intervention. Expertise in other forms of imaging research will also be considered.
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a PhD in physics, engineering, chemistry, computer science, medical imaging, or a related field. Experience in MRI techniques and concepts, pulse sequence development, clinical translational imaging research, advanced mathematics, biomedical modeling & post-processing, and successful demonstration of extramural funding are essential. The Center for Translational Imaging, an imaging core facility at Northwestern University’s Chicago campus operated by Radiology, houses five MR systems (full body 1.5T and 3T; pre-clinical 7T) fully dedicated to imaging research. Further, >15 clinical MR scanners as well as a PET-MRI and 2 PET-CT systems located within Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a close research collaboration with Siemens Cardiovascular MR R&D provide the unique opportunity to translate novel imaging techniques into clinical studies and applications.
This position is a continuing appointment, academic rank determined on qualifications, at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Depending on the candidate's qualification, the position can be offered as tenure-track. Salary and benefits are highly competitive.
