The Technician B will provide research support for the Reilly Laboratory in the Cardiometabolic Genomics Program focusing on RNA sequencing, single cell RNA profiling, cell biology, and molecular biology of cardiometabolic genomics and biology. The Reilly lab performs human translational studies, gene-editing in human induced pluripotent stem cell models, single cell profiling, transcriptomics, in vitro experiments and animal model work focus on cardiometabolic disorders including atherosclerosis, adipose biology and glucose homeostasis, innate immunity in metabolism, and lipoproteins.
Organization and preparation of the research lab materials
Setting and calibrating equipment and carrying out fully planned experiments
Preparation of solutions and common reagents
Cellular and molecular assays(e.g., transformation, miniprep, maxiprep, RNA, DNA and protein preparation, cDNA synthesis, qRTPCR, Transfection, packaging of viral vectors, ELISA, Western Blotting etc.)
Utilizing microscopic techniques and flow cytometry for characterization of primary cells
Interpretation of data and keeping records of results
Preparation of materials and executing protocols toward RNA profiling of myeloid cells, vascular smooth muscle cell experiments, and general molecular biology procedures
Perform other responsibilities as directed
Requires a bachelorâ€™s degree or equivalent in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Applicant should have excellent organizational skills, willingness to work as a team under guidance with certain independence is expected, familiar with cell biology and molecular biology techniques, and must be willing to work with human materials, live animals and derived humans.
Prior lab experience with tissue culture and cell biology techniques.
