FACILITY OPERATIONS-IUB (BL-PHYP-IUBLA)
The mission of the IU Bloomington Facility Operations is to operate and maintain a high-quality physical environment to enhance student learning, faculty teaching and research. We serve other non-academic departments, and we support the University's service to the community and citizens of Indiana.

Performs a variety of custodial duties including: cleaning offices, classrooms, windows, restrooms, stairs, public areas, and other building areas. May also hang drapes, shovel snow, clean sidewalks, driveways and grounds adjacent to the Service Building. Operates several types of power equipment used to buff, strip, and clean; removes/cleans, and replaces Venetian blinds and entrance mats. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
General knowledge at the high school level.
Ability to use equipment that will sweep, dust-mop, and wet-mop level floors, ramps and stairs; and backpack and large area vacuums. Knowledge of and ability to change light bulbs in a variety of fixtures. Effectively operate a variety of cleaning tools and equipment. Ability to identify and report items in buildings that need repair. Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner. Proficient communication skills. Maintains a high degree of professionalism. Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills. Demonstrates a high commitment to quality. Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty. Highly thorough and dependable. Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to build strong customer relationships. Knowledge of cleaning procedures and equipment and have ability to operate and use standard cleaning equipment and materials. Some knowledge of standard kitchen practices and sanitation methods (for positions in food service facility). Ability to follow safe work practices in biohazard and/or hazardous waste clean-up (i.e. blood bornepathogens; toxic, reactive, explosive and ignitable laboratory wastes, corrosive wastes from cleaning operations; other miscellaneous wastes from across campus). May involve training and tests in hazardous waste management. Ability to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people. Ability to perform work that requires medium to heavy physical effort. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work in team environment. Ability to work with wide variety of cultures and backgrounds.
Working Conditions / Demands
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift, move a wide variety of items from one place to another on a frequent basis, which includes moving furniture for cleaning. Work and stand for long periods of time in performing job assignments, and to see well in order to clean surfaces that are elevated or on uneven surfaces. Must possess the mobility and flexibility to physically maneuver in cluttered and congested areas in order to reach surfaces that need cleaning. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
