Assistant Director Enterprise Analytics Reporting and Population Health - 2101451
Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Director in the department of Enterprise Analytics and Population Health to define strategic enhancements to our Enterprise Analytics Reporting and Data Warehouse strategy. The candidate will also be responsible for the technical supervision of a group of data analysts that currently support our enterprise reporting suite. The Assistant Director of Enterprise Analytics Reporting and Population Health is a new position responsible for helping refine and develop new enhancements to our enterprise wide data reporting, visualization, data warehouse and governance strategy. The candidate will develop and present data driven results and insights to Operational, Clinical, Financial, Research and Population Health teams within the hospital community and Clinically Integrated Network (CIN). All data intelligence reports, data marts and dashboards will be presented in an intuitive manner based on industry standard best practices to satisfy the many data requirements across Stony Brook's complex health system. The Assistant Director of Enterprise Analytics Reporting and Population Health will be one of the teams key business analysts working with clinical leadership, internal Quality and IT teams to review, prioritize and document requirements while helping establish our project lifecycle, data warehouse and data governance strategies. The candidate will help establish best practice end to end software development lifecycle policies and procedures to ensure the highest degree of data quality, certification and accuracy. With the assistance of other team members the candidate help create interactive data marts, visualizations and dashboards that provide actionable insights allowing management to make data driven decisions.
Duties of a Assistant Director Enterprise Analytics Reporting and Population Health may include the following but are not limited to:
Work with team members in the department of Enterprise Analytics and Population Health to understand and interpret data requests of business stakeholders and prioritize appropriately.
Promptly, review, prioritize and assign approved report requests to analysts. Manage expectations of report requestors, internal and external customers.
Provide technical and managerial support a variety of Enterprise wide projects including core Hospital Operations, Quality, Research and Stony Brook's new Clinically Integrated Network (CIN).
Administrative and technical management of several Enterprise Analytics Reporting Analysts.
Review, refine and define strategic enhancements to the Enterprise Analytics Reporting and Data Warehouse and Population Health data strategy.
Work with the team to analyze and integrate net new data sources into the Enterprise Analytics data warehouse and associated data marts. Assist with design and development of database tables and workflows used to support our enterprise wide reporting and dashboard requirements.
Work with internal and external team members to promote sound software development lifecycle practices, policies and procedures and data governance structure.
Document and design Enterprise data warehouse requirements through the collection of business requirements, determination of available data sources, and mapping of data collection fields.
Utilize best statistical practices to accurately calculate all requested metrics.
Contribute towards the development of our reporting catalogue and data dictionaries.
Create standard and custom visualizations that meet customer parameters while ensuring data validity, statistical integrity, and maximizing user experience.
Create iteration plans, design documents, entity relationship models and visual models based on project requirements, clinical work flows and department objectives.
Document requirements and specifications throughout the design and development life cycles.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics or Business related discipline or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of direct experience with Enterprise reporting in a health care environment.
Proven experience (5+ years) at implementing and supporting enterprise wide reporting, data marts data visualization projects and warehouse strategy.
Experience developing and supporting enterprise wide reporting using Crystal reporting tools.
Expertise in best practices for data management.
Experience with data warehouse and BI tools.
Experience with Oracle and SQL Server databases and SQL Queries.
Experience with logical database modeling concepts and relational database management in SQL.
Knowledge of basic statistics.
Knowledge of visualization best practices.
Proven experience with requirements gathering, analysis and documentation.
Ability to gather, manage and synthesize large amounts of information effectively and creatively.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
Proven experience working with all levels of management (including C-suite leadership) as well as technical staff.
Masters degree in Computer Science, Informatics other related quantitative field.
Health Care and Cerner EMR experience a strong plus.
Advanced SQL writing skills (5+ years) - strong understanding of relational and dimensional data models.
Experience gathering and refining requirements, interviewing business users to understand and document data requirements including elements, entities and relationships, in addition to visualization and report specifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication and good presentation skills.
