Provides operational assistance to various divisions within the University of Minnesota Police Department. Primary duties involve assisting with property and evidence; assisting with maintaining the vehicle fleet; maintaining department forms, supplies and equipment; assisting with asset management; assisting with community engagement events; and other miscellaneous duties as assigned. This position involves wearing a police-type uniform. Work shifts are primarily Monday-Friday business hours, however, some evening and weekend shifts are necessary.
Major Responsibilities: 25% - Assisting with UMPD Property & Evidence Room – Assist the Property Room Manager with inventorying, releasing, transporting and destroying property and evidence per policy.
25% - Assisting with Fleet Management – Assist the Fleet Manager with the scheduling and transporting of department-owned vehicles needing maintenance as well as emergency equipment installation and repair.
25% - Equipment Maintenance, Inventory and Supply Ordering - Maintains department supplies and equipment on an ongoing basis and orders new supplies and equipment as needed.
15% - Assisting with Asset Management – Assist the Asset Manager with tracking department owned property and equipment.
5% - Community Engagement – Assist the Community Engagement Team with setting up and participating in on and off-campus community engagement events.
5% - Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and must be enrolled in (or have completed) an accredited college or university program seeking a degree in a Law Enforcement related program, ability to successfully pass a Department of Public Safety background investigation, Windows-based computer proficiency (particularly with spreadsheets), a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, and an ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Essential Qualification: Regular attendance is an essential qualification for this position.
