This is a 40 hour per week, 10 month, temporary position, based on funding.
Starting Wage: $27.84 per hour
MAJOR DUTIES AND/OR OBJECTIVES: Function as direct care giver (75%) • Follow all HIPAA and FERPA rules and regulations • Deliver primary nursing care per scripted and established procedures and written protocols • Appropriately triage walk-in patients and phone calls; assess patient needs and facilitate appropriate level of care. • Effectively communicate with patients, parents, and staff over the phone. • Provide quality assessment and care per nursing protocols and within scope of practice with guidance from Physician in complex situations. • Educate patients as to risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Teach self-care measures appropriate to problem. • Accurately administer allergy injections, immunizations, TB skin tests, or injections. • Perform basic lab tests according to training • Dispense medications and provide patient education per protocol • Respond efficiently to in-house emergencies Contribute to/oversee clinic function (20%) • Assists MD/NP as needed • Ready patients for exam • Assist with procedures • Arrange referrals • Perform procedures as requested (ear lavage, EKG, hearing screen, etc.) • Assure adequate medical supplies • Assist in keeping rooms cleaned and stocked • Clean and sterilize equipment as needed • Track medical supplies as needed • Contribute to "Wellness" on campus • Immunization clinics - set up and staff • Participate in health fairs, class presentations, etc. as requested • Be an effective liaison to community and university resources Other duties as assigned including but not limited to (5%) • Assist other staff members as appropriate to work schedule • Attend clinic/staff functions
BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
