Perform various tasks to assist the University Recreation Department in its dedication to the health and wellness of Detroit Mercy students and employees. In collaboration with the University Community, offer an exemplary facility, programs, and services that inspire participation and engagement., promote health, inspire well-being, enhance academic success, and foster community. Nurture a student-centered environment that provides an outlet for competition, exploration, fitness, play, and social interaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(1) Organize and execute Intramural Sports Program • Plan and market a diverse line-up of IM sports • Prepare participation reports • Provide training for officials and IM Lead • Recruit participants • Set and maintain a budget • Do at least one annual survey and post-engagement metrics • Provide updates for social media and website (2) Organize and execute Club Sports • Strategize to energize the program • Provide resources and mentoring • Oversee the maintenance of a budget and process invoices (3) Assist in management of University Recreation • Assist with communication to the University Community regarding URec matters and programs • Represent URec in meetings, on committees, and give presentations upon request • Provide superior customer service and enforce rules and regulations when needed • Help market facility for the purpose of providing income • Pursue alternate funding sources when available • Assist in strategic planning for department. (4) Hiring, Training, and scheduling of Team URec including motivating, mentoring and
(5) Camps and Group Engagement Activities • Plan and facilitate a diverse line-up of activities • Prepare and execute a marketing plan • Prepare invoices and maintain a budget (6) Adventure Series • Plan and market a diverse series • Prepare and execute a marketing plan • Prepare participation reports • Recruit participants • Provide updates for social media and website (7) Bike Loan Program – provide maintenance, guidelines, and billing (8) Other duties as assigned
Education: A college degree Experience: Two years to five years
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals • Ability to multitask with a keen awareness to customer service • Strong oral and written communication skills • Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and visitors • Basic website and Microsoft Office capabilities • Awareness of imleagues.com and discord is appreciated • Extensive knowledge of Recreational sports its current trends and various game regulations
Job requires repetitively lifting light weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities.
Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
• Maintain current Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications
• Valid Driver's License
Must be available to work non-traditional hours and have a flexible schedule
