Junior Specialist - Alvarez-Buylla Lab
The Alvarez-Buylla lab uses cutting edge molecular and cellular biology techniques to discover how the adult brain generates new neurons from resident stem cells. The Junior Specialist will be responsible for conducting research experiments to support the goals of an NIH R01 grant seeking to understand how different types of ependymal cells in the stem cell niche develop, and modulate adult neurogenesis. Responsibilities include breeding & genotyping research mice, collecting brain tissues for immunocytochemistry and RNA in situ hybridization, dissecting and cryosectioning brain tissue, imaging research samples using confocal and wide-field fluorescence microscopy, making solutions, contributing to lab organization & maintaining common reagents, as well as data collection and analysis.
