This position's primary responsibilities include varying levels of technical support for systems and media equipment including evaluation, installation, maintenance, modification, and repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides expert assistance in troubleshooting and managing desktop workstations, classroom technology, and software installations.
Diagnose and assists in installation or repair of hardware and/or peripheral components such as monitors, printers, and software.
Configures and Pre-tests workstations to university specifications. Deliver and setup workstations in offices, labs and classrooms as needed.
Maintains and utilizes classroom technology, hardware and software, including troubleshooting TechPod multimedia lecterns and making necessary repairs if appropriate; programming classroom AV control systems using the IP-based Utelogy platform.
Understanding networking, switches and IP control systems as they pertain to classroom and office technology in order to deploy, maintain and troubleshoot issues in the classroom and department offices.
Provides ongoing support for students, faculty, and staff by responding, diagnosing, and resolving system hardware, software and operating system problems in classrooms and offices.
Instructs users on the use of equipment, software and peripherals.
Troubleshoots and coordinates repair and maintenance through campus and vendor resources.
Leverage active directory and remote desktop management technology to support end user requests, software installs, virus protection analysis, and desktop operating system patching.
Maintains and repairs media/video production equipment systems and facilities.
Provides technical setup of teleconferencing and video streaming systems.
Supervises student employees as appropriate.
Effectively operate in a ticketing helpdesk system to log, respond to, and close requests all while providing remarkable customer service.
Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of classroom and desktop workstation technology in an academic environment including operating systems, software packages and network troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, office software, audio-visual equipment and IP-based AV control systems.
Ability to maintain equipment along with knowledge of imaging systems tools and workstation/classroom deployment and maintenance.
Abilities and Skills:
Effectively organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Provide timely repairs and effective maintenance to ensure minimal disruption, downtime and least amount of impact to classrooms, computer labs, and departments.
Analytical, detail-oriented and accurate while executing assignments.
Provide clear reports in both oral and written formats regarding work assignments.
Troubleshoot and solve technical problems in the classroom, computer labs and for office desktop workstations efficiently and effectively.
Networking connectivity troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work and participate in a team environment.
Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of a small diverse college environment.
Excellent information gathering, research and reporting skills.
Strong organization and prioritization skills.
Exceptional written communications, interpersonal communication, and customer service skills.
High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Minimum of four years of experience working in an academic and administrative technology environment at a small to mid-size institution.
Previous demonstrated experience with Windows and Mac operating systems and instructional technology.
Licenses and Certifications:
Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) Certification and/or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) preferred.
