We are seeking a Program Manager for the Hopkins Business of Health Initiative (HBHI), a new University-wide initiative integrating research, practice, and policy across Hopkins’ leading schools of business, public health, nursing, and medicine. The initiative aims to advance the scholarship at Johns Hopkins University in order to improve the productivity of the American health system.
The Program Manager will report to the director and be responsible for overseeing the achievement of HBHI organizational goals. This will involve the coordination of efforts between the set of projects and activities supporting these goals, rather than being responsible for managing any one of them. The projects and activities of HBHI are varied, abut include building and maintaining research infrastructure, planning networking events, developing external partnerships, and communication of research and policy.
We are seeking a highly skilled professional with strong attention to strategy, implementation, and delegation. Someone who will be committed to helping the organization stay on schedule and coordinated across projects to support HBHI’s upward trajectory of success and growth.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide administrative leadership for the organization.
Oversee multiple project teams, ensuring program goals are reached and multiple components and cores are integrated.
Provide stewardship of partnerships and sponsors.
Maintain organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.
Support leadership in planning including scoping projects, defining deliverables developing work plans, and setting budgets.
Generate annual progress reports.
Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):
Bachelors’ degree in related discipline, including public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, pharmacology, or similar discipline.
Five years related work experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience in research and education environments providing project and/or program management preferred.
The program manager possesses excellent project management skills including outstanding skills in communication, scheduling, critical thinking, task management, and personal organization.
The program manager will interact with a variety of faculty members and staff, throughout the university and individuals outside the university, so strong interpersonal communication skills are essential.
The applicant must maintain a team-oriented approach and possesses the ability to cultivate positive and collegial workplace relationships.
Dependability and attention to detail will be vital to success in the position. The position is contingent upon funding (5-year initial funding).
May lead individuals during projects/assignments as indicated by HBHI’s director.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
