The Admissions and Retention Specialist provides administrative support to graduate and adult students, staff, and program directors. The incumbent will contribute significantly to new student recruitment and enrollment, student retention and persistence efforts, new student onboarding and orientation, graduate and commencement activities, and other initiatives and activities that contribute to providing an exceptional student experience. This position resides within the Office of Graduate and Extended Studies and reports primarily to the Associate Director of Graduate Admissions. It also dedicates at least 10 hours per week supporting adult learner recruitment, reporting to the Director of Transfer and Adult Admissions.
Essential Duties: ? Support the graduate and adult recruitment and admission processes by representing the university at recruitment events, responding to prospective student inquiries, implementing an application completion strategy, and accommodating campus visit requests ? Support the on-boarding of newly admitted students, including new student orientation and registration ? Support the Conditional and Provisional admitted students to ensure they meet program acceptance requirements. ? Assist in the management of scholarship awards each semester. ? Develop and implement new student entrance survey; measure new student data against exit survey data and recommend improvements based on findings. ? Work closely with graduate program directors to monitor on-campus student performance, triage student concerns (academic and otherwise), and direct students to appropriate resources ? Support the streamlined execution of important academic policies and procedures, including probation and dismissal, in coordination with the executive director, associate deans and program directors ? Communicate important deadlines and other timely information to students ? Coordinate the planning and execution of key events, including open houses, graduation, and awards ceremonies
Secondary Responsibilities: ? Attend recruitment events as needed ? Support and collaborate on special projects with team members from the Office of Graduate and Extended Studies and Office of Transfer and Adult Admissions ? Other duties as assigned
? Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of experience ? Excellent written and verbal communication skills ? Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems and processes ? Demonstrated success with providing exceptional high-level customer service
