Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Seeking a highly motivated individual to perform a variety of laboratory research tasks to examine the molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with behavior control. May perform tasks related to the research project independently, but within specific guidelines and subject to review by supervisor or other research staff.
Performs tissue collection, histology, fluorescent immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization experiments as well as other molecular studies to examine neuronal molecular expression;
Collects project data such as rodent behavioral experiments;
Under direction, processes, organizes and summarizes data, reporting experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software applications or program platforms;
May occasionally instruct others in basic laboratory techniques;
This is a 1 year term position with possibility of extension contingent on performance and funding availability.

At least one year related work experience.
College degree in a relevant field. Prior experience in a molecular neuroscience laboratory is strongly preferred.
Skills and Experience: Demonstrated abilities in laboratory techniques such as histology, fluorescence immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, and behavior analysis is required. Hands-on experience with rodents is also preferred. Exposure to applicable computer technologies, including specific software applications, may be required. Appropriate communications skills required
May be required to lift, move and transport related laboratory equipment. May be required to work with a variety of hazardous materials. May be required to work with and handle animals.
