General Summary Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST provides financial analysis and reporting for the University's business units and takes a lead role in designing, coordinating, and publishing reporting to internal and external stakeholders. This position serves as the primary for understanding new reporting needs and working on the development of new reports and a new reporting strategy. The Senior Financial Analyst leads ongoing efforts to redesign and improve processes, audit budget records, analyze financial performance against budget with respect to the financial goals established by the EVP and the university, and examine any linkages with the long-range university plans and strategic goals. The Senior Financial Analyst will also actively participate in the preparation of internal financial reports, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results of the University's operating activities.
This Senior Financial Analyst is an expert in financial reporting and is the point of contact for all financial reporting-related matters. This position will develop strong enterprise-wide relationships to ensure timely and accurate internal and external reports. The position requires a broad and deep knowledge of Oracle reporting tools, university and area operations, industry practices, and accounting and finance principles and best practices.
The Senior Financial Analyst will supervise up to one financial analyst.
Responsibilities & Duties
Routine financial reporting and analysis: Lead financial analysis and reporting for internal and external stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Create executive-level reporting and analysis at the university, college, department, and program level, and assist with long-range financial planning.
Ad hoc reporting & new report design: Design and complete critical and complex data analysis, both for ad hoc and ongoing purposes, to assist managers and executives in Financial Affairs and other university divisions with decision-making, problem definition and resolution, and operational and strategic planning. The position will connect disparate data sources to derive meaningful conclusions. This includes liaising with various departments inside and outside of Financial Affairs to strategize the most effective way to export and present data from the Oracle Reports system.
Education & Experience
Minimum 4 years of experience in Accounting, Budgeting, or Financial Analysis.
Oracle Reporting (Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence, Financial Reporting Studio, Business Intelligence Publisher, or SmartView) experience.
Accounting, or Finance degree.
Financial Planning & Analysis, consulting, public accounting, or higher education.
Certified Public Accountant license or master's degree.
