TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE 1 , Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research - Birnbaum Lab, to work in the area of antibody profiling. The Birnbaum Lab is developing novel methods to determine the antibody and B cell reactivity against infectious diseases such as SARS-CoV-2. It is in the process of iteratively designing, building, and validating new versions of its approach. To support this research, the technical associate will produce testing materials, process serum samples, aid in analyzing the data, and assist with the general reagent upkeep and maintenance for the larger project. Will be part of a team of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows performing a mixture of collaborative and independent experiments. The principal responsibilities will include designing, cloning, and verifying novel DNA constructs; producing and testing lentiviruses for function; sterile passage and maintenance of cell lines; processing and analyzing data from human serum samples; organizing and replenishing laboratory supplies and reagents; participating in meetings; assisting postdocs and students with their experiments; plotting and analyzing data and presenting to project leader and faculty supervisor for review; and keeping accurate and timely records.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : B.S./B.A. in biology, bioengineering, biochemistry or other relevant scientific field; and at least two years' experience in a life science laboratory (in-depth undergraduate research experience may fulfill this requirement). Seek a self-motivated, highly-organized researcher with strong interpersonal and communication skills who is comfortable summarizing and reporting results to researchers. PREFERRED : experience culturing cell lines, experience with the production and characterization of lentiviral constructs, and experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR and qPCR.
