Associate Project Scientist Liu Lab
The UCI Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is currently accepting applications for an Associate Project Scientist in the laboratory of Professor Chang Liu. The duties of the position are to 1) carry out a project developing and applying an autonomously mutating barcode in mammalian cells (60%), 2) advise a team of 3-4 undergraduates and PhD students working on DNA recording and continuous protein evolution (15%), and 3) develop and implement research and operation strategies for the Liu lab (25%). The initial appointment will be full-time for a 24-month period with the expectation for renewal based on performance.
Requirements: A PhD in biomedical engineering or related field, 4 or more years of post-PhD research experience in synthetic biology or related fields, excellent interpersonal and organization skills, and strong communication (oral and written) skills are required.
