The University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Division of Interdisciplinary Programs (DIP) and John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (Iowa JPEC) is seeking an Economic Development Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of a career and alumni mentoring program to be delivered through the Enterprise Leadership Program and the Iowa JPEC. The program will connect Iowa students to alumni mentors for professional career development and to support the creation, launch, and growth of student, faculty/staff, and alumni-owned entrepreneurial ventures. Specific activities will include mentor recruitment, mentor-student-entrepreneur matching, and program assessment and reporting. In addition, the Economic Development Manager will work closely with Iowa JPEC to provide advanced experiential learning opportunities for enterprise leadership majors and other undergraduate students participating in entrepreneurship programs. Activities will include program marketing, client recruitment, relationship management, and impact reporting.
The Economic Development Manager will work collaboratively with multiple constituents within Iowa JPEC, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and across the University of Iowa.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead alumni mentor recruiting
Manage alumni mentor database
Match mentors with students
Report impact data
Engage with state of Iowa and Iowa alumni-owned entrepreneurial ventures to identify opportunities for student consulting projects, internships, and job placement
Assist with outreach event coordination and planning
Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the mentoring and student experiential learning opportunities throughout Iowa and to alumni-owned businesses
Coordinate with Iowa JPEC and DIP marketing teams to generate social media and traditional media content

Degree requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two or more years of program/project management experience
Working knowledge of accepted program/project management techniques
Demonstrated experience engaging with students and clients on outreach or business development opportunities
Demonstrated expert experience with interpersonal and relationship building skills and demonstrated application within the university and/or business community
Superior oral and written communication skills
Strong computer skills, with experience using advanced functions in Excel, and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Must be able to travel across Iowa (approximately 30% during peak times for project recruitment and execution each semester).
Valid driver's license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Master's degree in a related field
Experience in creating and managing budgets
Demonstrated experience coordinating events and marketing specialty programs.
Working knowledge of Salesforce CRM software.
