The Custodian performs basic janitorial duties, minor building maintenance tasks, and groundskeeping, as well as maintains a safe, clean, and pleasant atmosphere for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on the Danville campus.
Note: The posting for this position is open-ended and will be filled according to need.
Performs daily cleaning of the classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas such as dusting, disposing of trash and other waste, cleaning the windows, vacuuming, wiping down baseboards, cobwebs and other debris on ceilings and floors.
Performs daily cleaning of restrooms and ensures supplies are restocked.
Performs minor repairs and assists the Maintenance Technician in major repairs as needed.
Replaces light bulbs, ballasts, ceiling tiles, etc.
Maintains grounds by mowing, weed-eating, planting, and watering, picking up debris, and snow removal.
Moves and assembles furniture or equipment for classrooms and assists with setups for campus events and meetings to include simple installation of wall mounted instructional aids (blackboards, marker boards, art, etc.)
Operates forklift and lawn equipment.
Performs floor maintenance such as shampooing carpet, sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing.
Assists the campus director, faculty and staff as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
High School/GED and six months related experience, or equivalent.
Basic CPR Certification.
Valid driver's license.
Able to lift heavy items such as office furniture, equipment, etc.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to follow instructions and carry out assignments with limited direct supervision; self-directed.
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects.
Good customer-service and communication skills.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
