The Program Manager leads the development of the clinical, supportive, and educational Program for Older Patients with Breast Cancer. In conjunction with the Director, the Program Manager will focus on setting the strategic goals of the program, managing the implementation of new components, ensuring a cohesive integration with the research program, and evaluating progress of the program. The Program Manager, as an integral part of program development, will develop and execute the patient communication strategy for the Older Patients clinical program and other clinical programs, in particular the EMBRACE Program, to develop tailored patient-facing educational materials, videos, website updates, brochures, event announcements, email communications, newsletters, social media posts, and any other relevant communications for patients. The Program Manager will partner with patient advocates, the DFCI Communications team, and the Program(s)â€™ leadership on the design, content, printing, and distribution of materials and will work creatively to make materials are useful, appealing, and engaging for patients.
Lead the development and implementation of the Program for Older Patients with Breast Cancer at DFCI through close collaboration with the Program Director, team members, and patient advocates
Co-develop strategic and implementation plan for the Program
Oversee the ongoing evaluation and strategic direction of services and program expansion, which may include tracking and assessing numbers served, initiating and following up on surveys as needed
Develop and execute a patient communication strategy
Develop initial program content, patient-facing communications, program marketing materials, growth strategies, targets and measurements of success
Update Program website regularly in collaboration with the DFCI Communications Team
Oversee the creation and distribution of materials to patients and providers including but not limited to:
Biannual print newsletters
Brochures and booklets
Social media presence
Obtain training in relevant areas to nurture expertise in the needed areas (with reasonable financial support provided by the Program)
Assist in hiring staff/team members to coordinate the program and staff clinical needs
Responsible for the recruitment and oversight of the Program Coordinator roleensuring that staff complete mandatory training in a timely manner and participate in relevant continuing education; develop and oversee a program-specific on-boarding and orientation process; manage annual performance evaluations and competency assessments of supervised staff
Provide administrative support for the Program; assistance with scheduling will be provided
Collaborate closely with patient advocates, team members, and DFCI staff on a regular basis
Organize and set agendas for regular Program Meetings
Plan and execute conferences and patient-centered events according to the needs of the population including but not limited to: webinars, telephone support groups, annual forums
Regularly address any contacts made to the central program website/email and provide patient navigation and connection with services
Join clinicians in the DFCI breast oncology clinic as needed to assess patient flow, opportunities for improvement of services, and to learn about clinical care for patients with breast cancer
Oversee the Program database, which holds all information related to provided services
Ensure quality and accuracy of the database
Work with the Program Coordinator and Data Programmer to improve the structure and resolve issues as needed
Assist with grant submission as needed
