The University of Akron, College of Engineering and Polymer Science seeks applicants for the non-tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, to begin Fall Semester 2021 to support our ABET-accredited BSEE and BSCpE programs. The primary focus of this position is teaching and preparing graduates for professional careers. Research is not required.
The selected candidate will develop, revise, and deliver Electrical and Computer Engineering lecture and laboratory courses at the baccalaureate level. Additional duties include advising capstone design project teams; University, college, department, and program committee work; assessment and accreditation responsibilities; student recruitment activities; maintaining technical currency; and other duties as assigned.
A PhD in Electrical Engineering or closely related field; outstanding written and verbal communication skills; experience in teaching and managing engineering classes; must have a passion for the profession and the ability to teach a variety of Electrical and Computer Engineering courses in the following areas: Circuit Analysis, Electric Power and Machines, Electronics, Linear Systems, and Computer Programming; and must be comfortable advising capstone design teams in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Experience teaching engineering courses involving Circuit Analysis, Electric Power and Machines, Electronics, Linear Systems, and Computer Programming; experience in teaching, managing, and evaluating engineering classes with enrollments of 50 or more; demonstrated competence in advising capstone design teams in Electrical and Computer Engineering; and at least 2 years' relevant teaching experience in an ABET-accredited US engineering program.
