Operate the online boiler system and its supporting equipment, make adjustments, perform tests, and take action as necessary to provide uninterrupted steam to the campus safely and efficiently. Work is performed under general supervision.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have a basic mechanical knowledge/aptitude.
Must be able to work independently and with general supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in English with supervisor and co-workers.
Analytic skills to diagnose and correct the cause of failures with equipment.
Ability to pass essential job function physical screening.
Ability to work days, nights, afternoons, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to wear an air hood.
Ability to exercise good judgement at all times.
Ability to organize work tasks logically and efficiently.
Ability to be punctual when relieving a shift.
Ability to read and understand written procedures and manuals.
Ability to recognize safety concerns and adhere to a safety program.
Ability to work in confined spaces and in unpleasant conditions, including extreme temperatures, dirt and dust.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor including frequent lifting up to 50 or more pounds.
Must have the ability to diagram plant systems (water, steam. gas, fuel oil, air and blowdown lines)
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Ability to perform basic plant maintenance tasks using power and hand tools.
Ability to operate a skid-steer loader.
Knowledge of the function and operation of high pressure boilers and supporting equipment.
High pressure boiler license or certification.
Previous experience with firing natural gas and fuel oil boilers.

The selected candidate must be able to pass a post-offer pre-employment screen. A 12-month probationary period is required. The pay rate is $21 per hour. (In addition, a night differential of an additional $0.45/hour and weekend differential of an additional $0.60/hour are paid for the appropriate hours.)
