Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department within Rutgers, Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
A postdoc position is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate in the group of Subhajyoti De at Rutgers University Cancer Institute in NJ, USA.
The postdoctoral fellow in the group of Dr. De will be involved in cancer research at Rutgers, and in this role will advance knowledge for better diagnosis, stratification, and treatment of cancer. Dr. De's group has particular interest in cancer evolution, cancer progression, and treatment, and the candidate is expected to contribute in one or more of these areas. There will be opportunities to work in an interdisciplinary team both in clinical and research settings on a variety of high impact, cutting edge projects. The candidate should have a PhD in biology, biotechnology, pharmacology, computational, statistical or mathematical sciences. The individual must have effective communication, team working, problem solving skills, and adaptability to changes in technological and scientific directions. The group will be located in the Rutgers University Cancer Institute in New Brunswick, NJ, which is within easy commuting distance from both New York City and Philadelphia via public transit. The campus also enjoys close proximity to multiple major pharmaceutical industries and the vibrant research community in the greater NYC area.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: Performs research for better diagnosis, stratification, and treatment of cancer in the settings of basic and translational research.
Writes publications and reports of the research.
Gives oral presentations of the research at seminars and meetings.
Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers' regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. Degree in Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Cancer Research, Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, computational science, statistical science, mathematical science. or a related field.
Candidates in all-but-degree (ABD) status will also be considered.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated evidence of proficiency in one or more of the modern programming languages (e.g. Perl, C++, Java, Python etc.) and R.
Knowledge and experience of UNIX / LINUX.
Effective communication, team working, problem solving skills, and adaptability to changes in technological and scientific directions.
Experience working with next generation sequencing datasets, integrative analysis of large datasets, and running software on a cluster.
Exposure to cancer genomics data.
