The Assistant Manager of Gift Accounting will oversee and direct all aspects of day-to-day gift processing and accounting that pertain to gift preparation, gift entry, archiving, gift data review, and clean-up. Specifically, this position will enter journal vouchers, upload journal vouchers, process fund transfers and deposits, perform daily reconciliation of the feeds between the advancement system and the finance system, and produce gift reports. In addition, the Assistant Manager serves as the point person for data entry standards for all constituent biographical and advancement related attributes. Will serve on related shared data committees.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or business related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Ability to use financial accounting technology including computer-based spreadsheet and database applications. Ability to manage financial activities and projects. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting principles. Creativity and initiative to develop workable solutions to problems when answers are not readily apparent; demonstrated customer service skills; ability to utilize personal computer spreadsheet and word processing applications to prepare reports and presentations and to analyze financial data; ability to function independently and deliver quality work products in a dynamic environment; possess sound judgment with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization as a whole; comfort with learning new technologies; and sensitivity, awareness and a strong sense of discretion when dealing with proprietary or confidential material.
Higher education experience and/or master's degree and two years of experience in accounting. Experience with the Banner Advancement module; particularly gift processing. Ability to extract, analyze, and report data from multiple data sources. Knowledge of CASE and IRS gift processing regulations, standards, and procedures. Familiarity with university business policies and cash handling procedures.
