The ESCC Learning Resources Center (LRC) serves educational and informational needs, strengthens instruction and promotes scholarship and research for the college community. It develops and maintains appropriate resources, services and facilities to support and advance the educational mission of the college. The LRC is also the locus for the college's records management function as well as the administration of student testing and institutional research, planning and assessment. The Support Specialist functions as a team member and works independently to support the library work unit by providing the following routine library services: circulation, support for purchasing, cataloging and processing, interlibrary loan, instructional technology and daily operations. The Support Specialist also functions in a supporting role to the Coordinator of Research, Planning and Assessment by assisting the position in the execution and preparation of surveys and reports, and providing support for testing services, administrative tasks, special projects and other duties as assigned. The position may require a flexible schedule, opening/closing the library.
Outstanding customer services skills. Basic knowledge of library resources and services. Must have keyboarding skills and familiarity with various basic computer applications including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), email, web browser and software. General knowledge of computer hardware, multimedia, digital and other instructional technology equipment. Must have an interest in acquiring new knowledge and skills and the ability to embrace new technology. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact patiently and respectfully with patrons of various needs and research skills; Ability to teach patrons how to use print and online resources; Ability to work independently and effectively manage time and priorities. Strong attention to detail. Relevant customer service work experience. Experience with standard office equipment. Experience accepting new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments. Ability to work a flexible schedule.
