CARB-X, a Boston University Global Partnership, has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our core team at Boston University in the role of Director of Strategic Initiatives. Located at the BU School of Law, CARB-X is focused on accelerating the pre-clinical development of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics to address antibiotic resistance. Approximately $480M has already been committed to this work, and CARB-X has more than 50 innovative projects in the rapidly growing portfolio. CARB-X brings a holistic approach to working with companies to help them succeed, tapping into a worldwide pool of experts in science, drug discovery and development, and operational effectiveness. More information can be found at www.carb-x.org. The Director of Strategic Initiatives (DSI) is a new senior role on the leadership team of CARB-X. The DSI leads the strategic planning and evaluation efforts: organizing, prioritizing, and helping to operationalize the strategic objectives for CARB-X, to ensure desired outcomes are realized and obstacles are addressed. The DSI is a member of the leadership team and will work directly for the Executive Director. The DSI will also oversee communications activities, the coordination of stakeholder engagement and outreach, the annual strategic review and planning process, as well as organizational development and training activities. CARB-X is a fast-paced environment where creativity, flexibility, and collaboration are essential. In this role, you will work as part of a dedicated CARB-X core team and with BU central offices, to achieve goals and maximize the overall effectiveness of the program. You will interact with diverse groups of Product Developers and governmental and non-governmental funding partners, and stakeholders across the global anti-microbial resistance community. This is a full-time, grant-funded position, with offices located on the Charles River Campus of Boston University. CARB-X is currently in the final year of its principal grant funding and is working on future funding prospects.
Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred. At least five years directly related experience in managing organizational processes or initiatives. Experience in a leadership position with one or more of the key functions and responsibilities described above. Able to demonstrate strong communication skills in written documents, graphical presentation of information, and oral communication. Experience in managing direct reports supporting goals and objectives in support of both organizational as well as individual team members career and professional development objectives highly desirable.
