RESEARCH SPECIALIST , Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research- Jacks Lab , to be responsible for project management, serve as a trusted resource and mentor for staff, perform administrative lab duties, act as liaison between Jacks Lab and host institution to ensure compliance with regulations, and ship biologicals according to IATA and DOT regulations.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : B.S./B.A. in biology or related field; seven years' research experience in academic and clinical labs; experience managing and leading teams; strong publication record; experience with histology, preclinical trials, and murine models of cancer; excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills; track record of accomplishment in molecular bioscience research; meticulous attention to detail and accuracy; ability to train, mentor, and supervise; flexibility; ability to shift priorities, and meet deadlines, and work independently or with a team; and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Illustrator, Prism, and Python. Must have experience with recombinant DNA techniques, Gibson cloning, CRISPR, creation of retroviral and lentiviral plasmids, cell line transfection and transduction, single-cell cloning, purifying nucleic acids, Southern/Northern/Western blotting, QPCR, RTPCR, and laser capture microdissection; mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique, isolation and culture of mouse embryo fibroblast cells, lung and PDAC tumor cells, ES cell electroporation and culture, cell cycle and viability assays, flow cytometry, protein extraction and purification; mouse husbandry and handling, genotyping, intratracheal instillation of cells and virus, oral gavage, tail vein, subcutaneous and intraperitoneal injections in mice, blood sampling techniques, drug dosing, anesthesia, surgery prep and post-operative care, necropsy and pathology, mouse embryo dissection, uCT, and IVIS imaging; and paraffin processing, embedding, microtomy, H&E and special stains, enzyme histochemistry, IF, IHC, and cryo-and plastic/resin sectioning.
