Duties/Responsibilities 50% Animal surgery and injections and conducting complex experimental protocols evaluating cardiovascular and metabolic function in rodents 20% Conducting biochemical, immunological or molecular biology assays on serum and tissue samples 20% Compiling, organizing, analyzing and graphing data 10% General laboratory maintenance including cleaning, organizing, ordering supplies

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications BA/BS in the sciences with at least one year of research experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal five years.
Preferred skills 1. Research laboratory experience 2. Experience handling, sexing and injecting rodents 3. Experience in isolating pancreas and manually harvesting pancreatic islets from rodents 4. Experience in Western blotting of complement activation products such as C3a and C5a 3. Experience in small animal surgery, including survival surgery 4. Bachelors degree in biomedical sciences such as biochemistry, physiology, molecular biology, toxicology or immunology. 5. Experience in biochemical and immunological assays including ELISA assays, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry. 6. Proficiency in carrying out complex experimental protocols 7. Experience with personal computers, compilation of data in spreadsheets and basic statistical analysis. 8. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with commitment to teamwork
