Research Specialist Position The Department of Pathology University of California San Francisco
The UCSF Department of Pathology seeks a Research Specialist (Junior Level) to work as part of a team on a human fatty liver research project in The Mattis Laboratory (https://mattislab.ucsf.edu/), which studies the mechanisms regulating lipid metabolism in human liver diseases. Salary and appointment rank will be commensurate with the applicants’ experience and training. The position is available immediately.
Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (or related fields) by the time of hire and at least 6 months practical lab experience. Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. Strongly motivated candidates with prior molecular biology research experience and plans to go on to graduate school are preferred. Applicants should have excellent writing skills and proficiency in English.
This individual will conduct experiments under the direct supervision of a senior postdoc and will also receive mentoring and direct guidance from the principal investigator in order to advance their career in academic research. Techniques that may be used include DNA cloning and PCR, protein purification and pull downs, enzymology, tissue culture, and tissue immunohistochemical evaluation. Additional responsibilities include ordering, organizing and maintaining stocks of lab supplies and reagents, and performing other duties as assigned.
