The Advanced Practice Provider will extend the services of the physicians and includes medical diagnoses and medical and surgical treatment as directed by the physicians at Vidant Minor Emergency Department (ED), Vidant Children's ED and Vidant Beaufort Hospital ED. This individual will be expected to help coordinate medical activities including activities of patient evaluation and care, as well as consulting physicians, technical, and other medical personnel as directed by the physicians. Nurse Practitioners applying will be expected to be trained to see patients of all ages. This position requires working weekends, evenings and holidays.

Graduation from a physician assistant program approved by the N.C. Board of Medical Examiners and “approved to practice medical acts” based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or licensed as a registered nurse by the Board of Nursing and graduation from a nurse practitioner program approved by the N.C. Joint Subcommittee, and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

We treat more than 120,000 patients per year in a state-of-the-art ED at Vidant Medical Center. VMC is a 960+ bed level 1 trauma center and regional stroke center.
