The Office of Undergraduate Education is seeking an Undergraduate Research Associate Director, to lead the Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and the Arts (URSA). This is a full-time, 1.00 FTE, 12-month, fixed term, professional faculty position.
This position is part of the university's commitment to enhance and expand opportunities for undergraduates to engage in research. Undergraduate research includes any inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate student that makes an original, intellectual, or creative contribution to a particular discipline or across disciplines.
This position is the liaison with units, academic faculty, and undergraduate education committees and programs to advance undergraduate research across the disciplines at Oregon State University.
This position works with campus partners to sustain and expand undergraduate research and to design and implement future enhancements in line with student and faculty needs across OSU's disciplines.
The Associate Director is responsible for managing and developing centralized undergraduate research programming and supporting departmental/college efforts whenever opportunities for partnership are possible.
The programs and services under the Associate Director's purview should emphasize best practices in undergraduate experiential education and undergraduate research administration.
The position requires active collaboration with a wide range of constituents and stakeholders including academic counselors, OSU's Research Office and research centers, academic units, individual faculty, academic advisors, students, OSU Foundation, as well as relevant organizations external to OSU.
The Associate Director will lead the collaboration with campus units to advance the university's overall experiential education initiatives and to facilitate sharing of ideas and resources among academic and support units.
Potential outcomes of the Associate Director's activities include directed and proactive advising (and other forms of messaging) to encourage more undergraduates to plan for and engage in undergraduate research, increased numbers of faculty and students participating in undergraduate research, equity of participation across student demographics, and better assessment and tracking mechanisms for accreditation and internal improvement efforts.
In addition, the Associate Director will actively seek external funding that support the Office of URSA, and coordinate efforts with related efforts across campus.
The Associate Director reports to the Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSUSTANDARD 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Criminal History Check Requirement.
