Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Intensive Outpatient Treatment and Supporting Services department at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
The primary purpose of the LPN position is to provide direct medical care, wellness counseling, perform treatments and procedures within established guidelines, and provide a safe and therapeutic outpatient environment. Provides case management, mental health, rehabilitative, educational, services as identified by group and individual contact with consumers.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
As required by individual program, assumes direct care responsibilities for consumer and provides individual, group, family supportive counseling, crisis intervention, outreach, psycho-education, skills building, educational, medical services and coordination, and case management services as identified by individual program.
Participates in data collection related to the consumers’ status and needs.
Provides input to Staff Nurse and MD for incorporation into the plan of care by communicating information pertinent to the consumer’s status.
Effectively contributes to and supports an environment that enhances the positive self image of consumer/consumers and preserves their human dignity.
Actively and enthusiastically participates and contributes to treatment team discussions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
At least six (6) months of experience providing medical services to mental health consumers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to use computer to document service and enter data.
Twelve (12) months of experience providing medical services to mental health consumers.
Community based experience.
Work schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
Fingerprinting (which is applicant paid) and Pre-employment drug screening are required.
