The Office of Information Assurance (OIA) (a department within ITS) is responsible for the infrastructure, policies, standards and training necessary to ensure the achievement of the security and privacy goals of the University. Collaborating closely with various campus resources and partners, the department identifies, responds to and mitigates information security/privacy risks, threats and vulnerabilities.
Uses advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercise's judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Primarily deals with programs and proposals with broad impact across the function, research initiative, program and / or organization. Develops and oversees the implementation of new programs and processes.
The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, aka CMMC, is the Department of Defense's standard for the securing of data and systems funded by DoD sponsored contracts. UC San Diego, as a significant recipient of DoD contracts is establishing a program for the provision of CMMC certified services to UC San Diego and UC researchers. UC San Diego is establishing itself as a Center of Excellences for CMMC services, anchored by our existing investment in the Sherlock environment at San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) This position, reporting to the CISO, oversees and manages the UCSD CMMC Program.
The candidate will provide vital support and management for the CMMC Program, including coordination between SDSC and ITS, division IT staff providing local support for researchers, and various units throughout the University who support elements of CMMC compliance. These include, for example, Human Resources (ensuring the process of personnel screening is being adhered to and if it is not being addressed, work with the appropriate party to document and collect evidence), the Office of Contracts and Grant Administration, and Research Affairs. The candidate will own the task of overseeing and guiding the entire CMMC program under the direction of the CISO, leadership from SDSC and Research Affairs.
The candidate will also contribute to development of the business model to ensure CMMC services are self-sustaining, by marketing of UC San Diego's CMMC services to institutions throughout the University of California (UC) as well as helping develop external Universities as customers for UCSD CMMC services.
