Financial Analyst for Patient Financial Services - 2101455
At Stony Brook Medicine, the Financial Analyst for Patient Financial Services will provide analytical, reconciliation and reporting services throughout the hospital's Business Office. Reporting to the Associate Director PFS Reporting and Analysis, this position will support reimbursement analysis, cash reconciliation and productivity and KPI reporting. Candidates must possess 5+ years' experience working in an accounting or analyst role in an Acute Care Hospital Finance or Revenue Cycle Department. Successful applicants must possess experience which demonstrates mastery of healthcare billing and reimbursement concepts along with an advanced ability to summarize, analyze and report business data.
Duties of an Financial Analyst for Patient Financial Services may include the following but are not limited to:
Prepare and analyze operational and financial reports to summarize performance.
Evaluate financial data and reports to identify opportunities for revenue and operational improvement.
Reconcile and report cash. Including inter-facility and clearing accounts. Cash projections.
Analyze and Model reimbursement.
Compile departmental dashboards and KPI's utilizing multiple data sources including: Patient Billing, Claims Scrubber, Contract Management and Work Listing systems.
Identify, track and trend variances; Complete expected to actual reporting across business units.
Audit and reconcile transactions, processes and outcomes. Including: charges, contractual adjustments, bad debt, denials, accelerated and unposted cash.
Assist in the development of financial audit programs, dashboards and analytics.
Support ad-hoc financial reporting, special projects and performance improvement initiatives as required.
B.S. Accounting/Finance, Health Information Management, Health Administration, Computer Science or related field.
Five years' experience in an accounting or analyst role for an Acute Care Hospital Finance or Revenue Cycle Department.
High proficiency in MS Office Suite. Including: Excel, Word.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Master's Degree or Professional Licensure
Experience with healthcare reimbursement and facility claims analysis (DRG, APC, APG, Managed Care Contracts, UB-04, 837i, 835)
Experience interpreting billing, coding and payment regulations and third party contracts.
Knowledge of CPT, HCPCs and ICD-10 coding principles
Proficiency with SAP Business Objects/Crystal Reports.
Proficiency with visualization software (Tableau, MS Power BI, etc.)
