Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Information Services (EIS), the Programmer/Analyst is an integral part of the team managing the University’s enterprise applications and services in support of its mission and goals. This position will work closely with members of the EIS team and other Division of Technology Services (DTS) technical teams as well as various functional groups to trouble-shoot issues, gather requirements, assist user testing and provide project leadership for technical projects in a fast-paced dynamic environment. The Programmer/Analyst should understand the system development life cycle and possess project management experience and software and data integration skills, as well as be able to conceptualize, design and implement solutions that meet business objectives. Finally, the individual will provide technical development, maintenance and support for the Banner system and enhance, modify and maintain Banner software to effectively meet users and business function needs.
Provide daily support for the modules of the administrative systems.
Install new system releases, upgrades, and patches.
Design, develop, and implement integration processes between the administrative system and other systems.
Provide support to help desk tickets and resolve daily operational issues. Provide system and user support including troubleshooting and resolution of system or data issues.
Support new software releases and upgrade testing. Develop comprehensive functional test plans associated with system integration, project implementation and upgrades. Partner with functional users to execute test plans.
Research, plan, develop, test, and implement as part of a team, new and emerging technologies for the campus
Provide cross team technical training on new technologies
Document day to day operations and complex technical systems, processes, and procedures
Provide after-hour support for critical upgrades and applications
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Maintain and improve programming skills through self-study, seminars, and workshops
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree or some college and specialized training/certification plus relevant work experience. Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Information Technology, Business or a closely related discipline from an accredited four-year college or university preferred
At least three years of programming experience, preferably with Banner
Proficient at SQL, PL/SQL, Unix/Linux shell scripting, Web services (WSDL, REST, XML, JSON), Git
Knowledge of Tomcat and other middleware technologies
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in maintaining an intricate relational database management system
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to interact professionally with coworkers and end users
Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
