This is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate position in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, University of Nebraska-Lincoln will conduct research in the area of Cropping Systems and Applied Agronomy. This is a 12-month, 100% research, non-tenure leading position established for a period of one year. Continuation of the position beyond one year is dependent upon satisfactory performance and availability/ability to secure funding.

A successful candidate will be conducting and publishing research in the areas of resource efficient crop management, determination of optimal cropping system practices in water-limited environments, synthesis of long-term datasets, and integration of multi-disciplinary data. Duties of the position include preparing and submitting manuscripts related to applied agronomic field studies and a number of existing datasets as well as conducting further research related to challenges of resource efficient cropping systems. It is expected that this candidate will publish in high-quality, high-impact peer-reviewed journals, participate in scientific meetings, and support the tri-partite mission of the Land Grant Institution. The incumbent will also be responsible for identifying novel areas of research and developing research grant proposals to fund new research projects in the semi-arid High Plains of Nebraska. Furthermore, the incumbent will assist in a supporting role to the ongoing efforts of the Nebraska State Variety Testing and Dryland Cropping Systems projects and Extension/Outreach events.
In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level. The incumbent will mentor graduate students and undergraduate researchers, prepare learner- and stakeholder-centered publications and media.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
PhD required in Crop Physiology, Crop Production, Agronomy, Soil Science/Fertility or related field with emphasis in applied field research.
Ability to manage, analyze, and prepare manuscripts based on a variety of data types and experimental designs.
An understanding of crop production practices and physiology.
Demonstrated ability to publish original research in peer-reviewed journals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively communicate across multidisciplinary teams
Proven track record in securing competitive research grant funding.
Experience in evaluating long-term experimental data and conducting meta-analyses
Experience in soil science or soil water conservation
Proven skills in analyzing multivariate data
Ability to work well in a team and collaborative environment
Background in mentoring
Strong interest in cropping system improvement, resource efficient management, and producing quality date to address critical problems for producers.
Expertise in cross-disciplinary research including plant physiology, soil science, water efficiency, etc.
