Information Technology Services, a service organization that provides technology support for the University of Iowa campus, is seeking to fill a Linux/AIX Systems Administrator position. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the management of enterprise server operating systems and applications; be open to change; a technical curiosity; self-motivation and a strong attention to details. The successful candidate will be encouraged to do all three! As a Linux/AIX Systems Administrator, some of your job duties may include:
Utilize automation tools to configure and install server applications running on Linux operating systems
Deploy and support vended applications on Linux operating systems for campus-wide usage
Work with applications and services that are local (on-prem) as well as in AWS and Azure
Assist in troubleshooting and identifying performance issues with campus applications and services
Work with load balancers to achieve scale application out (F5, nginx, AWS elastic load balancer, etc.)
Occasional off-hours and weekend work may be required along with participation in a 24x7 on-call support rotation.

Education Requirement: A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
Experience (typically 2-4 years) supporting and managing multiple systems and applications in a large organization.
Experience working with Unix/Linux supporting server-based applications.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Experience with automation and/or programming in any modern language (highly desirable).
Experience with Puppet configuration management (highly desirable).
Experience with version control technologies (such as git) (highly desirable).
Experience with AIX.
Experience supporting PeopleSoft.
Experience with modern web server technologies (such as Apache, tomcat, nginx, etc.).
Experience supporting technology in a higher education setting.
