Reporting to the Director of Research Administration of the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology (BCMP) at Harvard Medical School, the Executive Assistant performs a range of complex and confidential administrative duties. Administrative support is primarily provided to the Chair with some support to other members of the department's leadership team as needed.

Five plus years of experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and independence in a role providing high-level support to executive staff.
College degree strongly preferred or an equivalent of education plus relevant business experience. Experience in an academic and/or research environment preferred. Requires solid working knowledge of office processes, sharing best practices with other administrators, and comfort with related computer software and electronic communication tools.
The successful candidate will display great flexibility and be able to anticipate the needs of those supported and take appropriate initiative and action. S/he will be strongly service-oriented with a proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with both internal and external constituencies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must have the ability to use judgment, tact, and discretion when handling complex and confidential materials and situations. Must be web/digital media savvy and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
