The Adamo Lab at Johns Hopkins University Cardiology is seeking full time post-doctoral fellows to lead innovative research projects in cardiac immunology. The main areas of interest of the lab include but are not limited to myocardial adaptation to injury, myocardial aging, heart failure, myocarditis. The ideal candidate is an independent, enthusiastic critical thinker that is interested in performing high-risk/high-reward research and in developing novel therapeutics for heart failure/ myocardial disease. The candidate will be expected to think creatively and work independently. Multiple possible projects are available to select from, including projects performed in collaboration with other laboratories. However, the candidate will be encouraged to develop additional independent projects within the broader scope of the Adamo Lab. Prior experience with research in myocardial biology or immunology will be favored, but it is not a necessary pre-requisite for applying.
The initial appointment will be for one year, with the potential for funding to be extended for additional years. Decisions regarding Fellowship extensions will be based on scholarly productivity, mid-year and year-end progress reports. The position provides salary and benefits consistent with NIH postdoctoral fellows.
PhD or MD plus lab experience in biomedical research is required. Fellowships are open to eligible US citizens and international applicants. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
