Work with Associate Director to plan and launch a pilot podcast series, including all details such as audience, key messages, featured topics and speakers, recording and editing, and promotion;
Assist and collaborate on implementing existing communications vehicles, such as web articles, event promotion, and e-newsletters;
Help maintain Institute’s social media presence, including Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube;
Possible video work, depending on experience and interests.
Web Media Support (15%)
Post new content and maintain Institute web pages;
Assist in review and updating website pages;
Assist in analysis and reporting of website usage using Google Analytics.
Writing and editing (15%)
Write and/or proofread communications materials, including faculty interviews, research recaps, student profiles, etc.
Perform other miscellaneous administrative duties as needed.
The Heller Hurwicz Economics Institute in the Department of Economics, College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Temporary Communication Assistant. This position will be supporting the Associate Director with communications and administrative tasks as directed, with a focus on launching new communications tools.
Minimum 1 year experience in media, public relations, communications, or related fields
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Knowledge of web site terms and features;
Working knowledge of word processing and e-mail software;
Demonstrated ability to learn new software programs;
Proven experience handling multiple projects and working under deadlines; and
Able to both be a team player and work independently.
Experience using and configuring social media;
Design and web software experience, especially Drupal and Google Analytics;
Experience with podcast creation and production;
Experience with filming and video editing.
