Working with the Director, direct several aspects of NYU's alumni relations efforts, events and volunteer management, serving a constituency of 600,000 living alumni. Manage alumni and student volunteer activities that meet diverse alumni needs and support strategic goals of the University. The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing a selection of NYU alumni groups (e.g., regional, affinity), designed to engage alumni and current students in the academic and cultural life of the University through shared-interest and geographic-based programming. Create new programs and events to engage and recognize alumni leadership; analyze existing programming; and work across the University with student affairs, school directors, career services and other operational areas to identify opportunities to engage alumni. The Assistant Director will support recent alumni and student programs for the NYU Alumni Association.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education: Master's degree preferred
Required Experience: 3 years' experience in alumni relations, events planning and management, and volunteer management/staff supervision, or equivalent combination. Experience in higher education, non-profit, or development environment.
Preferred Experience: Related experience at another academic institution preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized and creative; ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to interact with a diverse population at all levels. Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Experience managing volunteers or working with Boards.
