We are seeking a Research Assistant interested in contributing to research aimed at understanding the neurobiological risk factors related the development of substance use disorders. The chosen candidate will support ongoing research examining how individual differences in how a person feels and acts when under the influence of alcohol relates to substance use over time.
This position primarily requires interacting with study participants via email, phone/video chat, and in-person in order to determine study eligibility and collect data. The position also requires some detail-oriented computer work, including participant scheduling and data entry.
In accordance with OHSU Covid-19 restrictions and guidance, the incumbent may be required to perform some activities from home.
Communicate clearly and interact with study participants in professional, engaging, and informative manner (i.e. answer basic scientific and safety questions)
Administer questionnaires, cognitive assessments, and behavioral tasks
Assist in the collection of structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging
Use SPSS, Excel, and RedCap to enter data
Bachelor's Degree / No Experience; OR Associate's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience; OR no degree and 4 years of relevant experience
Sufficient computer knowledge to interface with a variety of database and statistical software, such as Excel, REDCap, SPSS, Access
Age requirement of 21 or over in order to administer alcohol to human research participants
Good communication and interpersonal skills are extremely important, as the incumbent will be interacting regularly with young adults
Demonstrated ability to learn new and innovative processes quickly
Evening and weekend availability
Degree in behavioral science field or advanced degree
Background in psychological or neuroimaging research
Project coordination/management experience
Proven track-record of learning new skills quickly
Enthusiasm about contributing to the research mission
