Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a physician I for Rutgers Student Health Services (RSH) in New Brunswick, NJ. The Physician will work to maintain the health and well-being of students attending the university under the supervision of the Student Health Services Director. Our goal at RSH is to optimize students' health so that they remain successful, academically progress, and graduate from Rutgers University.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Perform direct patient primary medical care including but not limited to general medical problems, routine gynecology and dermatology, minor psychiatric problems, routine primary care orthopedics, and minor surgery.
Assess the general physical, developmental, and psychosocial health status of individuals
Consult and collaborate with other health care team members
Act as a preceptor for medical students, residents, and other healthcare professions students
Attend scheduled meetings concerning medical and administrative matters
Share in evening medical coverage of RSH
Participate in outreach to the University community as requested.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from approved medical school.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Current knowledge of adolescent/young adult medicine.
Ability to understand and communicate in the English language.
Ability to work at a pace consistent with the health center's needs to insure that students are served in a timely manner.
Ability to physically assist patients as necessary, may entail lifting patients, pushing wheel chairs, or carrying students who have fainted.
Manual dexterity to perform medical tasks unassisted; e.g. suturing, bimanual exams, CPR.
Ability to cope with interruptions, multiple tasks, and stress of dealing with multiple patients at a fast pace (especially during peak workload times such as flu season).
Ability to make appropriate client observations
Understanding and using interpersonal skills to promote and celebrate diversity and inclusion. Ability to use technology such as remote telehealth systems to optimize care of the student patient.
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Experience in college health setting desirable.
Interest in preventive medicine, adolescent medicine, and health education.
CPR Certification or willing to be certified. N.J. and Federal Government narcotic licenses.
Electronic Health Records, Camera and microphone for remote telehealth.
Board certification or board eligible and (becomes board certified within two years of initial appointment).
