Advertised Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Library and Information Technology (LIT), the Network and Systems Administrator I is responsible for applying technology and designing system architectures to align with organizational strategic business objectives of Thomas Cooper Library (TCL) and University Libraries special collections units. Among the latter, Moving Image Research Collections' (MIRC's) ambitious mass digitization program requires special attention leveraging complex cloud-based services. Areas of focus include technical operations, processes, and projects to install & support progressive compute, storage, network, and cloud platforms. In collaboration and consultation with LIT peers, Research Computing and other Division of Information Technology (DoIT) staff, the MIRC Director and staff, and with vendor representatives, this position researches system design, capabilities, limitations, and performance requirements. Proposes, designs, develops, writes, and tests new technologies and ideas. Performs server patches to ensure fixes and improvements are up to date. Performs post-mortem problem investigations to identify and correct inconsistencies and problems with operating system and application installations.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Systems or related field and 5 years experience in computer operations or a related data processing field; or equivalency.
