The Controller has university-wide responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and maintenance of the university financial records. Directs, coordinates, and oversees the institution’s various financial reporting and accounting. Establishes university financial policies and standards. Directs and oversees the operations of student financial services, general accounting, post-award accounting, accounts payable, central finance services and finance systems management. Provide assistance to the university's budget planning and development and treasury management. Reports to the Senior Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer.
Typically a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business management plus a CPA, or MBA, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. The incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy and industry changes.
Minimum ten years in financial accounting, reporting and management with a minimum of seven years in a supervisory capacity. Experience with computerized accounting, purchasing, payable, budgeting, payroll and receivable systems. Experience in higher education preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Federal and State financial laws, regulations, and operating guidelines as they pertain to institutions of higher education.
