The Access Services and Assessment Librarian oversees the Access Services department at Southern Oregon University's Hannon Library and leads faculty and staff in the assessment of the library's varied services and resources. The librarian has a high degree of fluency in multiple library and administrative technologies, such as Alma, ILLiad, Banner, Improve, and others. Setting the tone for excellent public services at Hannon Library to students, faculty, staff, and community members, the librarian leads by example and ensures the effective functioning of the Access Services team responsible for circulation, resource sharing, and stacks maintenance.
Assessment is an essential part of Southern Oregon University's mission and values; the campus as a whole is committed to using data and analytics to promote student learning, service excellence, and civic engagement. The Access Services and Assessment Librarian uses data gathered from library departments and assessments of student work to communicate the library's alignment with institutional goals to the campus and to work with library staff and faculty to propose policies, services, and initiatives to support student success and retention. In addition, the librarian provides analytics data to library faculty to support decision making.
Hannon Librarians are an integral part of teaching and education at Southern Oregon University. The Access Services and Assessment Librarian proactively participates in the library's information literacy and instruction program (faculty-requested instruction sessions, credit courses, and instructional workshops) with a focus on teaching students the essential skills necessary to successfully navigate today's information landscape. The individual in this position participates in an active faculty liaison program, serving as collection coordinator and faculty liaison to assigned departments and delivering library instruction. Other instructional responsibilities include providing research guidance at the Research Help desk (6-8 hours/week), via email, and in one-on-one consultations to a culturally diverse faculty and student body with increasingly interdisciplinary research interests.
Hannon Library is a collaborative library environment where staff and faculty work together on programs, planning, services, collections, and more. The Access Services and Assessment Librarian works with other library faculty and staff to develop, demonstrate, and promote instructional and user support materials for liaison programs. They serve on library and university committees and participate in varied library initiatives as appropriate.

This position reports directly to the University Librarian and is a tenure-track faculty position. The librarian will be expected to participate in service and scholarly activities commensurate with faculty rank.

Experience as an administrator of the fulfillment module of Ex Libris Alma
Experience with Alma Analytics
Experience managing library spaces
Two or more years of professional experience in an academic library
Three or more years of experience as a reference librarian
Experience creating electronic research guides and video tutorials
Experience leading sustainable assessment initiatives
Experience applying quantitative and qualitative assessment methods
Experience utilizing data visualization tools and techniques to communicate assessment results
Experience participating in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to external agencies such as IPEDS and ACRL
Background in currently needed subject areas such as nursing, STEM, music, sociology, anthropology, communication, or other areas depending on need and expertise.
