This position will pay up to $70,000, based on experience.
I) Job Purpose
The Diversity Specialist will develop and implement the organization’s diversity initiatives and strategy to attract, hire, and maintain a diverse workplace.
II) Essential Functions
A) Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to foster the organization’s diversity goals.
B) Reviews current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the company’s diversity goals.
C) Collects and analyzes statistical data to evaluate the company’s population in accordance with diversity standards and goals.
D) Drafts and implements recruiting and hiring strategies to attract employees from diverse backgrounds.
E) Develops and/or acquires training and development to aid diversity and retention initiatives.
F) Provides guidance to supervisory and human resources staff in developing objective performance and other employee evaluations and policies.
G) Acts as company liaison with government agencies concerning affirmative action and equal employment opportunities.
H) Maintains knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
I) Provides training and policy updates to colleagues, ensuring legal compliance of management and human resources staff.
J) Performs other related duties as assigned.
K) Provides administrative support to CHRO
L) Provides support to Employee Relations

N) Perform other job duties or responsibilities as requested or assigned.
III) Knowledge of Laws, Regulations, Policies/Procedures, Skills, and Abilities
A) Excellent verbal and written communication skills including proven dispute resolution skills.
B) Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local equal employment opportunity laws and regulations.
C) Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
D) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
E) Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
IV) Internal & External Customer Service
A) This position requires extensive internal and external contacts with all levels of management and field personnel. The employee will accomplish this with advanced written and verbal skills.
B) External: Vendor management and technical personnel, consultants, and personnel from other MHMR offices.
C) Internal: Executive Management, Senior Management, MHMR Staff
A) Travel between facilities for events and meetings as needed. This position may require temporary or permanent re-assignment to any MHMR of Tarrant County facility as determined by program needs or the Division Chief. May travel to conferences as needed with overnight stay on a minimal basis.
Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree
Human Resources, Education, or related field
Preferences Master’s degree preferred
Years' Experience 2 years
Human Resources or related experience required with at least two years specializing in equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity programs.
Valid Texas Driver’s License with good driving record.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
Required Supervisory None
Testing Requirements Pre-employment tests including drug and TB Screening
