This position functions to assist and support Occupational Therapy clinicians and staff with patient flow and smooth running of a fast-paced clinical office.� Duties include scheduling patients, answering and returning phone calls, ensuring appropriate registration information is entered, insurance verified, and all related registration/scheduling duties are completed accurately and in a timely manner.� Involves copying and faxing medical records to third-party payers for authorizations and completing a variety of activities using Epic, Excel, and Microsoft Word.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for greeting and registering new patients and scheduling new and returning patient appointments.� Maintains daily clinician appointment schedules and calendars and, when necessary, applies modifications to system scheduling.��������
Responsible for preparation of new patient electronic medical record files prior to patient visit to ensure appropriate documentation is secured, including insurance verification, authorization, and appropriate referrals.� Updates documents / medical records based on current insurance guidelines including pre-certification of occupational / physical therapy procedures, obtaining necessary referral/prescription forms, and other medical documentation.
Responsible for compiling, copying, and faxing/mailing monthly correspondence relating to patient visits.� Ensures patients receive and complete relevant forms prior to appointment.� Responsible for sending out monthly correspondence, for specialized patients, regarding their treatment evaluations as assigned.
Collects co-payments, supply fees, and enters clinic deposits. Records and reports monthly tax payments if applicable and processes payment receipt vouchers as needed.
Trains and orients other PSR’s to the clinical setting as assigned.
Adheres to all HIPAA regulations and assists in developing and maintaining front desk policies.
Serves as a back up for other staff during peak times, vacations, and illnesses.
Attends staff meetings, clinic meetings, and training sessions as they relate to the position.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification required with three years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience.
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
Epic scheduling/registration and Cadence experience.
Ability to handle confidential matters discretely.
Experience in ICD-10 and CPT codes, Medicare and managed-care guidelines, and medical terminology.
Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
Precise follow-up skills.
Computer knowledge/skills to include word processing (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), Internet, and e-mail.
Use of general office machines.

This position is in the Program in Occupational Therapy. This position is primarily located at 5232 Oakland Ave, St. Louis, MO. This position may be required to travel to other locations to assist due to vacations, absences, and volume.
The hiring range for this position is $15.85 - $19.43 per hour.
